Supreme Court says YES to Obamacare

by Jeff Lightsy Jr.

Yes, Mr. President you are allowed to continue to smile after your indescribable win today in court. The Supreme Court voted 6-3 in favor of Obamacare today. This decision comes just in time for Democratic nominations to use on the campaign trail for 2016.

With this decision, the government will continue to subsidize the Affordable Healthcare Act, thus providing thousands of dollars to Americans across the country.

So what does this mean for the Republican party? Well, they still do not want this law around and most Republicans in congress will continue to fight against this. This could still serve as ammunition for 2016 Republican presidential campaigns as well. They would campaign saying that this ruling does more harm than help.

Now, this isn’t the time for the Democratic Party to just sit back and celebrate. With this win in the Supreme Court today a win in the 2016 Presidential election is even more crucial. The only way for Obamacare to continue and prosper is if a Democratic president is elected after President Obama. Because if a Republican president is elected the first thing on their agenda is finding a way to get rid of it. Democratic candidates must capitalize on this opportunity and use it to their benefit.

Nobody knows how much success will come from the Affordable Care Act. One thing is for sure, it will be around long enough for us to decide how great it was or was not.

  1. Good broadcast-style op-ed writing! Make a point, keep it simple, and leave. The final paragraph is a bit clumsy. You could shorten it up, simplify and make it stronger.
