Basketball is back! With the NBA season starting this week here are some of the biggest questions and headlines that I am looking forward to this season.
Is this a dynasty in the making? The Golden State Warriors took home the title last season lead by the league MVP Stephen Curry. Now, the major question is can this become a dynasty in the making? With the average age of the nucleus of the Warriors (Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Harrison Barnes) only being 25 years old, the Warriors will be a team to mess with for years to come.
How will the LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers bounce back from an NBA Finals loss? LeBron James has just went through yet another offseason where he loss in the NBA Finals. Now, this season (if everyone gets healthy) Cleveland looks more poised than ever to win a championship. I like Cleveland as the clear favorite in the East, but this only happens IF their players are healthy.
Who is going to take the top spot in the Western Conference? Man oh man this is going to be really fun to watch this all shake out. Now, if you noticed I didn’t proclaim Golden State to be my pick out of the West like I did Cleveland. Well, this was not by accident because I don’t think the Warriors will come out of the West for the 2nd year in a row. There are just so many good teams in the West it is ridiculous. The Thunder get their MVP back from injury in Kevin Durant. The Clippers change their logo and bring in some great veteran players (Paul Pierce, Lance Stephenson, Josh Smith, re-sign DeAndre Jordan) to help bolster their already talented roster. And the Spurs landed the biggest fish in the free agent market in LaMarcus Aldridge. So watch out Golden State, their are a lot of teams who are coming for your spot.
The coronation of Anthony Davis. Yes, I sound like most people who follow the NBA, but I am saying it anyway. Anthony Davis is the best player in the NBA right now. Yes, the same NBA that has LeBron James and Stephen Curry. And this season he will prove that he is now the top dog of the league. A guy with his size and skill is pretty rare and the best part about him is that he is still developing as a player. I am saying it here first, your 2015-16 NBA MVP will be Anthony Davis.
I believe that it will be the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. the LA Clippers in The Finals. With Cleveland winning the title in 6 games and LeBron James doing what he set out to do and that is bring a title to Northeast Ohio. There is a possibility that everything that I have predicted in this piece could be wrong, and that is what makes this season so exciting. So buckle up NBA fans and enjoy the ride.
